The scope behind our work at Great Wolf Lodge.
Of steel fabricated
Building additions
Opening for all steel inside
Room for error
The resort stayed open the entire time. Here's how we built four additions around guests and staff.
Every project has its own unique challenges, and this job was no exception. The hotel and resort made it clear that they would not be shutting down, and that the work had to continue without interrupting hotel staff operations or the guest experience.

Most of the outside work was completed by tying in to the existing building steel and erecting the new additions with one of our smaller cranes suited for the tight work areas. The treehouse in the lobby, however, presented more complicated challenges. Our plan included mobilizing a Spydercrane into the building, followed by all of our fabricated steel, built specifically to the size of the opening we had available. Once inside, the staircase and treehouse had to be assembled and welded to the existing structure of the building. Since the staircase itself would have been too big to fit through the door, we had to fly it up in pieces and assemble it in the air. We calculated the load of the crane on the suspended second floor where we were operating, accounted for the loads imposed by the steel we were erecting, and strategically set up equipment in areas we knew the suspended concrete floor could support.

The project went together without any incidents, and the hotel was able to continue providing its guests with the waterpark, dining, and lodging experience while we completed the job.
